A craft is passed on, not written down
Since 1951, the skills of this house have moved from one pair of hands to the next. Some of our artisans learned from people who trained under the founder himself. When we add to the house, the position is listed on this page.

“To raise copper by hand, to dress a seam until it cannot be found, to marry a lid to its own body rather than to a tolerance: these are not procedures that can be written down and delegated.”
What we look for
The temperament of a maker
Care for the finish
A piece can be made quickly or made properly. We would rather it took another day than left the floor with a mark on it.
Willingness to learn
Much of what we do can only be taught by someone who has done it for years. Experience helps; patience matters more.
Pride in the long run
Our pieces are bought to work every day for a decade. We look for people who want their work to last as long.
